We have a special fall dish for you that’s full of savory flavors that everyone is sure to love! It’s our One Pot Kielbasa and Fried Cabbage and it can be on your table in about 20 minutes. Hillshire Farm® makes some of the best rope sausages and today I’m featuring their Polska Kielbasa. I have to say, their kielbasa is perfectly seasoned, fully cooked and a great addition to a hearty meal. This dish was a fun way for John and me to celebrate Oktoberfest with my parents last week!
The Hillshire Farm® smoky Polska Kielbasa, onions, green peppers, and cabbage, with a touch of brown sugar, makes this One Pot Kielbasa and Fried Cabbage meal off the chart amazing!
Shopping at Walmart is always a pleasure and we were happy to find a huge selection of Hillshire Farm® Rope Sausages.
We found Hillshire Farm® Rope Sausages in the Packaged Deli section at our local Walmart.
Here are a few of the tasty ingredients in this recipe, and because Hillshire Farm® rope sausages are fully cooked and perfectly seasoned it cuts the prep time down, making a delicious dinner fast and easy! All you do is slice and brown the Polska Kielbasa then add ingredients of your choice.
In a dutch oven or a large skillet, over medium-high heat, cook the chopped onions and peppers in the olive oil. Stir occasionally and cook until tender, about 5 minutes.
Add the Polska Kielbasa and continue to cook over medium-high heat until lightly browned about 5 minutes.
Add the minced garlic, salt, pepper and brown sugar and cook for a minute. This will blend the seasonings and release the flavor of the garlic.
Hillshire Farm® has a section on their website called ‘Tips From Our Chef‘ that are super helpful for the beginner cook and the experienced chef as well.
Add the cabbage and stir well to combine. Stirring occasionally, cook over medium heat 3-5 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender but still a little crisp.
These are my adorable parents. People don’t believe they’re going to be 80 and 85 years old next January and February, but they will be. We’ve been fortunate to live by them throughout the years, they live in our subdivision and love being in Florida too!
I knew I had to invite my parents over for dinner when I decided to make this One Pot Kielbasa and Fried Cabbage Oktoberfest meal. This recipe was the perfect amount for the four of us. But, my Dad was done eating before my Mom and asked her for a couple bites of her kielbasa, I wasn’t surprised. Well, at least he asked and didn’t just sneak it off her plate. She was happy to give him a couple pieces. 🙂
We served our One Pot Kielbasa and Fried Cabbage with some rustic homemade bread (recipe to come!).

As long as I can remember our family usually had a package of smokey kielbasa in the fridge. As a matter of fact, you can find my Dad eating a ‘chunk’ as he would say, of kielbasa for a snack from time to time. Kielbasa is a great addition to many meals but it’s also a good snack because it’s high in protein, so it keeps you satisfied longer than those sugary snacks.
Today’s One Pot Kielbasa and Fried Cabbage recipe is a complete meal in itself, it’s easy to make and really delicious too! Give it a try or make a meal from the Hillshire Farm® recipe collection, we’d love to hear about your new favorite!
