How’s July going for you? Well, it’s been beyond crazy for us. To start, Kenny and Chelsea’s family came to visit us for 8 days. Then as soon as they left we packed up our house for 8 days straight. And then yesterday we got back from an 8 day trip to Washington for our grandson, Aiden’s adoption, dedication and to look for a new house. So, it’s been super busy, to say the least!
Let’s start earlier this month when Chelsea’s family was here. One day Jessica brought little Ruby over to play with Laila and Aiden. It was a hot day, so they enjoyed the baby pool and some outdoor toys we have for them. Just look how sweet Laila is with Ruby.
We had a great time celebrating the 4th of July! These 2 are dressed for the 4th and always have a lot of fun together. Laila truly loves Aiden and he loves her too.
Later that day we went to my Dad’s (aka old Papa) for fireworks and sparklers. We all wore glow in the dark bracelets and necklaces and had a blast!
And here’s our littlest firecracker, Ruby. We didn’t get to celebrate the 4th of July with her, but she was dressed so cutely in red, white and blue. Oh, that face.
One day Andy, Jessica, and Ruby meet us at the beautiful historic greenhouse and aquarium at Belle Isle. It was a hot day, but we enjoyed the attractions together.
I love this picture of my Dad, Aiden, and Laila. We were walking into the restaurant for Ruby’s 1st birthday party and Chelsea snapped a picture of them walking together. My Dad is 88 yrs old and has a lot of back pain but he still manages to get around pretty well.
Ruby had a fun 1st birthday party! She’s the sweetest little girl and loves to catch your eye and try to make people smile. She’s been walking for a few weeks and says quite a few words. She’s the love of our lives, along with Laila and Aiden.
One day we also went to a local water park and Aiden loved the lazy river. He’s just the cutest little guy and he’s super happy most of the time.
And last but definitely not least, our little guy, Aiden was adopted on July 19th. It was a long-awaited day and a beautiful one at that with tears of joy throughout the day. Then in the evening, we had a cupcake celebration with friends and family at their church.
Kenny and Chelsea have been fostering for 3 years next month. It’s been a long and rocky road with some great memories but a lot of heartaches too. Because their hearts were broken when they didn’t get to adopt little Monique but God has truly blessed them with Aiden!
Their friend, Suzy brought a polaroid camera and a notebook. Each guest took a picture with Aiden and then taped it into the notebook with something special for him to read when he gets older. That was Suzy’s gift to them and we just loved her sweet idea!

We really enjoyed this dish a lot. Incredibly easy to get into the crockpot, and we were 2 happy guys last night at dinner. The meat easily fell apart using a fork, and with the potatoes and gravy, etc. this was so yummy. I will absolutely be making this again, and again, and again! Cheers and thanks for what you’ve shared, Jeff.
Jeff even sent a picture of their Southern Slow Steak dinner – I love it and their beautiful dog! We’re so glad you enjoyed our steaks and thank you for sending this Jeff. 🙂
