Today I’ll show you my nifty Frozen Banana Tip or how to freeze, thaw and use ripe bananas. I’ll also share with you how easy it is to thaw and use them in baked banana recipes. It’s super easy and I’ve been using frozen and thawed bananas in recipes for many years now! It’s a great tip and you may never throw away a ripe banana again!
Here’s what the banana will look like frozen when you first take it out of the freezer. Bananas freeze really well and will keep in the freezer for up to 6 months.
Completely thawed, the frosty whiteness on the banana skin will be gone and the banana will be very soft.
Once thawed, the banana will slide right out of the peel and ready for your favorite recipe. Another bonus, the thawed bananas will be mushy and blend into your batter much more easily. So, you won’t need to mash them!
I hope you love this tip as much as I do! Give it a try and let me know how it worked. I use this tip for our incredibly moist banana cake recipe all the time. This yummy cake is super moist and topped with a rich buttercream frosting.
- Three 3 medium bananas equal approximately 1 cup of mashed bananas.
- Take bananas out of the freezer a few hours before you need them for a recipe.
- Once thawed, tear off the top and the banana will slide right out!
