Dorito Taco Salad…Mmm, Mmm, Mmm. These three words together already make this recipe outstanding! Doritos, tacos, and salad are some of my favorite foods, and putting them all in one dish is truly amazing. If you love taco salad but just can’t seem to get it right, then try this recipe because it is so GOOD!
I promised you a delicious taco salad and I’m sure you’re gonna love this one. We have here sweet people, crispy iceberg lettuce, savory seasoned ground beef, ripe juicy tomatoes, diced green peppers and green onions, sliced black olives, spicy chili beans, all topped off with the best homemade Catalina Salad Dressing you may ever taste!
We enjoyed a taco salad recently at our daughter-in-law, Jessica’s parent’s home and it got me thinking, we don’t have a taco salad on this blog yet. So, I did my research, like I always do, and put together this yummy, savory recipe for you.
So, let’s get cooking!
- Make the Catalina Salad Dressing and set it aside while cooking the beef.
- Brown the ground beef thoroughly over high heat. Drain fat, if necessary. Add the taco seasoning and stir to coat. Add the water and stir while cooking over medium-high until thickened about 3 minutes. Set aside to cool.
- Finely shred the iceberg lettuce. Dice the green pepper and tomato, chop the green onions, drain the sliced olives and mild chili beans, measure the shredded sharp cheddar cheese and crush the Nacho Cheese Doritos.
- Put the lettuce in a large bowl and add all the ingredients, then drizzle the Catalina Salad Dressing on top. Toss to coat well and garnish with a sprinkle of shredded cheese.
Pro Tip: If you’re not going to eat the whole salad at one time, which it’s so tempting to do, make individual servings by putting a handful of shredded lettuce into bowls, top with a spoonful of each of the ingredients and drizzle 3-4 tablespoons of dressing on top. Toss to coat and sprinkle with a little shredded cheese, if desired.
Mixing the whole salad but not eating it all will result in soggy Doritos and wilted lettuce the next day. So, make individual servings as you need them. This way the Doritos and lettuce will stay nice and crunchy!
