Hello friends! Did you know you can turn old fashioned rolled, or regular and instant oats into ground oats, so you can add them to many of your recipes? Yes, you can! And, it’s a great thing to do because ground oats provide extra nutrition, flavor and texture. So, if you love the taste of oats and would love to use them in some of your recipes, just follow my simple steps today on How to Grind Oats.
How to Grind Oats:
- Old fashioned rolled, regular or instant oats
- Food processor
- Air tight container for storing
I love to use my food processor for all kinds of kitchen tasks, like grating zucchini, making shortbread pie dough and grinding oats, just to name a few.
Fill the food processor 1/2 to 2/3 full, then turn it on. Here’s what it looks like while it’s grinding. See how the oats are almost to the top of the container, that’s why it’s important to fill it only 1/2 to 2/3 full.
Here’s what the oats look like after they are ground, they’re nice and fine. Spoon the ground oats into an airtight storage container or the container they came in.
I mark the lid and they’re ready to use whenever I need to add a little ground oats to a recipe. Actually, My ‘One and Only’ Carrot Cake uses ground oats, along with frozen carrots and crushed pineapple, for a delicious, super moist and a little healthier carrot cake.
